Our Client is a provider of full range transport services - International Road Haulage within Europe.  Due to the expansion of their activities in Bulgaria, they seek a positive and motivated individual for the role of Payroll Accountant. Primary Responsibilities:

General Ledger (GL) functions:
 

Prepare and post journal entries.Prepare and analyze account reconciliations.Assist with annual external audit and workman’s compensation audit. Complete requested materials.

Payroll functions:

Perform payroll/timesheet operations.Ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes. Make updates as necessary.Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.Reconcile payroll prior to processing and validate confirmed reports.Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.Process correct garnishment calculations and ensure compliance.Perform compliance procedures for unclaimed payroll checks.Process accurate and timely quarterly and year-end reporting (941, W-2, W-2c, etc.).Handle accurate and timely tax remittances.Respond to employees and managers inquiries.

Reporting functions:

Prepare daily cash report for management.Prepare year-end employee-related summary report, (e.g. salary, vacation balances).Report and reconcile employee flexible plan contributions.Assist with the preparation of other reports provided to management (e.g. monthly timesheet reports).

Other functions:

VAT submission.Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures.Sort and distribute incoming mail.Ad Hoc analyses as needed.Deal with insurances and accidents.Translations from Bulgarian to English and vice versa.

Desired Skills and Experience:
Bachelor/Master in Accounting, or equivalent external work experience.A minimum of 2 years of related-experience (in house payroll processing) is required. Excellent skills using MS Word, and Internet Explorer.Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.Fluency in English.Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.Must have strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills, be detailed-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.Working knowledge of payroll best practices.Experience with Omega Accounting Software is a plus.
