Job Description

We are currently looking for a QA Engineer II to join our MS-Targeting Team

As a QA Engineer II you will run quality control tests and write documents that ensure the Business Strategies Division's range of software products are reliable, conform to the design specifications and fulfil stated customer requirements. Ensure application quality by inspecting all software documentation. Provide pre and post sales technical assistance to the customer support teams and account managers.

Responsibilities:
· Run manual integration and system tests scripts, and run regression tests by programming automated testing tools.
· Develop own test plans and test scripts for smaller projects based on design documentation.
· Test software applications in order to:
· Find as many defects as possible in the system under test
· Cover all functions in analysis & design specifications.
· Record the pass/fail result of tests and log repeatable defects using appropriate defect tracking tools.
· Identify the causes and test for common problems.
· Write tests that are easily understood, run and maintained by another team member
· Test for function and non-functional requirements, and stated and implied requirements.
· Maintain organised test script repositories.
· Organise QA project work to a consistent standard and common structure.
· Maintain and update regression tests.
· Maintain version control over test scripts (manual & automated) and documentation using appropriate tools.
· Support of tasks completed to resolve queries from other team members, account managers, helpdesk or clients.
· Assessment of the level of expertise of the enquirer and formulation of appropriate responses using either technical or non-technical language.
· Basic technical and functional product knowledge to support:
· Provision of technical sales support.
· Effective relationships with clients & suppliers.
· Technical support/assistance to sales/business consultants regarding estimating and scheduling of projects.
· In-depth knowledge of many software products and systems provided by own division.
· Plan, prioritise and organise own tasks to complete work and maintain organised project records.
· Collect appropriate QA and testing metrics to:
· Assess the status of the software under test
· Improve future timescale estimates
· Assess the risk to the product’s release and project deadlines
· Report delays to the project leader in a timely fashion.
· Responsible for quality documentation processes within QA and software development teams:
· Arrange meetings with customer-facing teams in the division to ensure customer requirements are understood from the outset of the test process.
· Arrange inspection and review meetings with software developers to ensure designs and software are unambiguous, usable and testable.
· Assist in the preparation of documents for inspection meetings.
· Contribute to team meetings to report progress, find out about new developments and improve the test process.
· Collect metrics to improve future timescale estimates. Assess coverage of current tests to identify gaps and common faults

Qualifications
· Degree level qualified.
· 2-3 years software QA experience
· Technical analysis & problem-solving skills
· Ability to rapidly assimilate knowledge of specialist applications/databases.
· Attention to detail, initiative and good self-motivation
· Knowledge of QA best practices
· Good knowledge of Business Strategies software applications, data products and processes.
· Basic SQL knowledge
· Fluency in written and spoken English.
