Security Engineer

Mission of the role

The Security Engineer primary role will be to work as part of a team of security engineers responsible for operational security activities for McAfee ePO and other technologies of the McAfee security family working closely with the IT security team. The Security Engineer also serves as the point of contact for end users and Technology staff to report issues related to software packages using McAfee modules in accordance with organization’s processes and procedures. Providing network and system security advice and risk analysis to business units who engage with the team

You will...

Be responsible for assisting with the planning, deployment and troubleshooting of endpoint security software
Will work on reporting of the status of the deployment and migration of the security products
Provide information security expertise to provide guidance and direction on secure application hosting for hundreds of internal and client facing application systems
Assess applications and the associated data flow for risk to sensitive data, systems, or infrastructure
Identify manual and repeatable processes and automate them
Document and update knowledge base to assist various teams with to follow and remediate issues
Tier II troubleshooting of network, desktop, server (hardware & software) and application performance & connectivity
Escalate major incidents to next tier Engineer
Serve as part of a team, organized after a follow-the-sun concept
Provide on-call services during off hours and weekends

You have...

Good working knowledge of managing policies and software deployment in ePO
Ability to write rules, policies and exclusions for McAfee products (ENS, HIPS, VSE, MCP, DLP)
Good working knowledge in security infrastructure and various network technologies to include devices such as firewalls, VPN, intrusion/extrusion detection, vulnerability & risk assessment tools, encryption technologies, virus/worm/malware prevention, Data Loss Prevention, whole disk & device encryption solutions, two-factor authentication, common Windows (desktop & server) platforms, various UNIX platforms, TCP/IP, SNMP, CGI, HTML and miscellaneous security related toolsets are all required
Strong knowledge of common security controls on Windows, Unix-based operating systems
Familiarity with SIEM technologies, Single Sign on (SSO) and 2FA/MFA is an advantage
Technical understanding and knowledge of current threat landscape (threat actors, APT, cyber-crime, etc)
Analytical thinking & problem-solving skills
Good communication skills on technical and general level
Poise and ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations
High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity
High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision
