Senior UX/UI Designer
The MentorMate Experience Design team is looking to hire a Senior UX/UI Designer who will work in a team of uniquely intelligent technologists to design, implement and extend groundbreaking mobile, web and custom software experiences for a wide range of clients.

You will participate in the creation of enterprise-class mobile and web applications for companies of all sizes and industries. This position requires a hands-on designer that will fully participate in the software development process, from early discovery workshops and feature definition to pixel-perfect execution of visual designs. In this role, you will participate in creating modern and intuitive software solutions that follow best-practice, while also pushing the boundaries of what is possible as design patterns and techniques evolve.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background across all fields of digital product design including web, mobile, wearables and other emerging technologies. You will have an expert understanding of user-centered design thinking techniques, including user research, user personas, journey maps, user flows, etc. The ideal candidate also demonstrates a strong desire to learn and advance his or her career within the Experience Design team at MentorMate.

Job Description:
If you are a curious and enthusiastic individual with excellent product design skills, we want to hear from you! The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of working within a software development team or agency and can also show the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to produce simple and elegant solutions to complex problems. The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

Experience designing native mobile apps
Experience designing responsive web apps
Experience working directly with clients
Experience working in the early stages of projects, including product discovery and requirements definition
Experience defining project requirements and producing deliverables that include journey maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, user testing and additional UX documentation that helps to inform design decisions and meet business needs
Experience with participating and facilitating in the design discovery process, including participatory workshops, user research, competitive analysis, heuristic evaluations and other research and analysis
Proven ability to create low and high fidelity wireframes and visual designs
Proven ability to mentor and offer guidance to junior designers
Proven ability to present, persuade and discuss your work and the decisions that influenced your solution
Experience with scope management and an understanding of trade-offs within the design process
Required skills
5+ years experience working as a UX/UI designer within a digital product development environment
Expert knowledge of user-centered design principles and best practices
An online portfolio that demonstrates excellent UX decision making and documentation, visual and typographic design skill
Ability to create both wireframes, visual designs and clickable prototypes
Expert knowledge of guidelines and documentation for native iOS and Android applications
Excellent proficiency with working in Sketch, InVision and Adobe CC suite
Familiarity with software design processes and production workflows
Familiarity and experience working within the Agile development process
An understanding of WCAG 2.0 guidelines
Ability to multitask and work on several projects at once
Ability to work autonomously and make proactive, educated decisions
Experience working directly with clients, product owners and end users
Excellent spoken and written English
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organizational and documentation skills
Responsible and team oriented person
Preferred skills
Experience with HTML5 and CSS3
Experience with motion and interaction design tools (i.e. Principle, Flow)
Experience with design strategy and design thinking techniques
Experience with usability testing and validation
