Senior DevOps Engineer – BI Team

As part of the SAAS (Software As A Service) programme that Experian are undertaking, the Business Intelligence SAAS team will be delivering a reporting solution that is scalable for delivery and support.
The Senior BI SaaS Build Engineer will lead the establishment and continuous improvement of process for the production operation and support of the BI reporting solution.
This role requires a high level of technical skill for assuring the correct design and operation of appropriate operational systems and processes as well as the ability to lead similar resources and collaborate closely with the other members of the BI team and other build engineers from core product teams to ensure there is no misalignment between development and support.

Key Responsibilities
• Assess current capabilities from incumbent team.
• Define a Service Management model of BI SaaS Devops SRE support - and embed this into existing teams and processes.
• Build a strong support capability including leading other support resources where necessary, and embed and communicate these effectively to other teams
• Work within the Site Reliability Engineering practice, to ensure adherence to their guidelines and best practices, and to automate as many operational fixes as possible, ensuring that proper change control processes are defined and followed etc
• Contributing to ongoing improvement of quality assurance standards and procedures through taking part in software design discussions, reviews, planning and strategy session
• Work within a BI context – eg understanding of the BI infrastructure, and for what purpose it is used, to be able to provide the level of support required.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
• Experience with defining, leading and delivering of a support service, - preferably within a context of a SaaS solution in a modern devops / SRE context, and / or a BI context
• An appreciation of all aspects of BI advantageous – eg business requirements, front end reporting tool set, experience with large transactional data volumes and databases
• SQL experience (ideally on Postgres or open source databases)
• General scripting skills – Python / Bash / Groovy or similar
• Experienced with bug tracking systems, version control systems – Jira, Bitbucket
• Experienced with build and automation tools - Jenkins, Fitnesse or similar
• Experience with AWS / Openshift Containers advantageous
• Experience of Agile development.
• Ability to understand streaming data sources – Kafka experience very advantageous
• Good communication skills and ability to work in multi-cultural team and build trust with other members of the team
• Enthusiasm and drive especially under pressure
• Ability to provide clear visibility on plans, issues/risks
• Fluency in English - verbally and in writing
• Background of developing financial and bank systems advantageous
• University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
