MentorMate is looking to hire a UX Design Director to lead our expanding Experience Design team in Bulgaria. This individual will be responsible for growing, developing and inspiring a team of uniquely intelligent designers who will create and deliver excellent digital experiences across a wide array of platforms and industries.

This position requires a high degree of direct coordination with the design team as well as with peers across practices to build and streamline processes which allow for the efficient delivery of thoughtful design work. You will work with the design team to develop career paths and to advance their skills and growth within the company. You will work with this same team to guide the strategy and execution of projects across a broad spectrum of diverse clients. It will be your responsibility to ensure that design opportunities are pitched and executed with an optimal approach and focus on both the user and business needs.

Job Description
If you are a curious and enthusiastic individual with excellent design leadership skills, we want to hear from you! The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of managing design teams in an agile development environment and 8+ years of digital design experience. The ideal candidate will effectively do the following:

Take responsibility for the creative design vision from concept to completion
Translate client objectives and audience needs into clear creative strategies
Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams, especially User Experience Design, Front-End Engineering, Project Management, and Web Strategy to deliver projects on time and within budget
Produce comprehensive creative briefs to help guide design execution and obtain explicit approval from key stakeholders at key project stages
Ensure UX specifications, marketing/communication messaging, accessibility requirements, and brand standards meet or exceed expectations in design deliverables
Lead the design portion of client pitches and proposals for key opportunities
Facilitate effective remote and onsite design reviews, workshops, and presentations
Work with Client Delivery to identify and assign the right creative staff to projects
Coach and oversee Experience Designers and other creative staff
Take an active role in leading design vision within sales opportunities
Meet with clients and prospects in person to gather requirements and/or run design workshops
Juggle multiple people, projects and priorities
Be a mentor and thought leader within the Design team and throughout the company

Required skills
Excellent spoken and written English
4+ years of experience in managing design teams
Deep experience in digital and user-centered design (design systems, responsive, front-end technologies, accessibility standards, usability testing etc.)
Experience working remotely or with distributed teams
Strong ability to quickly generate key design ideas/decks to win over clients
Excellent internal and external communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, both with clients and technology/design
Experience working within a corporate environment (e.g. addressing feedback from complex stakeholder groups, capturing and working with detailed design requirements, etc.)
Demonstrated team building, mentoring and leadership skills
Preferred skills
Marketing and SEO experience
