Position Title: Production Oracle DBA

We are looking for a Production Oracle DBA (12 months assignment) to provide Database Administration for a number of hosted Business Critical production systems. The Production Oracle DBA will be responsible for day to day operations of the databases to ensure that they continue to maintain their defined availability SLA targets. The person will be joining a team of highly experienced DBA’s that support multiple SQL server and Oracle systems.

The systems that the Production Oracle DBA will be supporting will include systems of varying sizes from 50G to several Terabytes.

This job will require out of hours work when performing upgrades and the participation in an on call rota.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for Production database systems meeting the SLA availability targets
Assist in day to day support of the production environments including: Backup and Recovery, monitoring and performance tuning
Assist in the installation and patching of RDBMS systems
Create and manage internal systems used to support the production estate
Incident and problem resolution of production database issues
Perform application upgrades to the databases
The following skills would be considered as advantage:
Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
Any knowledge of Oracle 18c or higher would be an advantage

Requirements
Minimum of 3 years production RDBMS server support in a 24 x7 hosted environment
Installation and configuration of Oracle RDBMS to the latest versions
Experience of working with large databases (Terabyte scale)

Competent in the following DBA functions:
Backup and Recovery using RMAN
Monitoring of systems
Performance tuning
Clustering (RAC)
Support of container databases – multi tenant solutions
Good problem solving skills, including a methodical and thorough approach to trouble shooting problems

Unix shell scripting
Teamwork with the ability to work in “virtual teams” as required
Have a strong focus on providing excellent Customer Service
Excellent planning and organising skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise work
Comprehensive understanding of project delivery lifecycle and management
Experience with Agile Methodologies – Scrum, Kanban, Lean
Excellent project planning and organizational skills
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
