Your Role and Responsibilities
The Data Scientist/Application developer will be part of the Information Analytics (IA) team in the Sofia CIC. IA is focused on supporting the global TSS strategy through new internal and external offerings in business intelligence, automation and cognitive services. The DS/AD will serve as a key participant in the development of these new products and services in the analytics space.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Establishing, defining and delivering user stories and MVP’s;
Work in rapid scrum cycles to grow solution functionalities;
Defining ramp-up infrastructure needs to support a smooth expansion of services
Collaborating closely with senior Research staff of IBM Research centers worldwide
Collaborating with the extended analytics and development teams
Actively communicating progress and roadblocks to the responsible IA technical leader
Working Hours: Bulgarian local with flexibility to take calls according to US working hours or the working hours of respective country of deployment.



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
BA/BS in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related STEM field
Proficiency in Python (2+yrs)
Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn) (2+yrs)
Experience in machine learning and/or natural language processing (2+yrs)
Statistical modeling through software (e.g. SAS) or programming language (e.g. Python)
Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry (5+yrs)
Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment (5+yrs)
Experience in Agile development (3+yrs)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate in a team environment



Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
A Master degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related STEM field
Proficiency with other programming languages such as Java
Experience with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch - mandatory, Logstash & Kibana - preferred)
Experience with Apache Spark and Kafka
Experience with TensorFlow
Hands-on experience deploying analytical models to solve business problems
Ability to develop experimental and analytical plans for data modeling processes
Experience with data visualization tools
