Oracle Database Administrator
The company is one of the world’s largest sports betting and gaming groups, operating both online and in the retail sector. The role in a nutshell:

You will operate the complete bwin Oracle and Mysql DB estates for both internal and external customers, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
In this position you will be able to move “things” forward, make a positive impact on the performance of the proprietary platform DB and implicitly on company’s success.

What you'll be doing:
Proactive monitoring of the company database services in order to prevent, wherever possible, incidents from occurring and thereby maximizing service availability and performance
Ensure Operational Incidents and Change Requests are resolved within defined SLAs
Ensure Disaster Recovery readiness for all applicable database services to minimize RTO (recovery time objective)
Maintain regular backups of supported database services to minimize data loss in case of a critical failure
Maintain and update where applicable the database standards in line with Oracle Database Engineering’s guidelines and ensure that these standards are implemented and adhered to during maintenance and new implementations
Implement, maintain, operate and support all internal and external customer facing database services
Contribute to the 24/7 on-call cover provided to critical services
Support the software development lifecycle process and assist in the deployment of new releases into the database environment and ensure these are performed within agreed service levels
Monitoring of all Systems in the portfolio of Oracle DBA TEAM using Cloud Control
Proactive Incident management: evaluate and provide solutions for warning alerts before they move to critical state
Reactive Incident Management: evaluate critical alerts, provide fixes and workarounds as appropriate
Support adjacent teams (engineering groups) on software releases
Perform Database Upgrades in conjunction with the Tech Leads


What we need from you:
3+ years of relevant Oracle database administration experience
Experience in operating Oracle RAC DBs on Solaris or Linux
Experience in Oracle database maintenance in a high data volume and high security environments
Affinity towards Troubleshooting
Good Solaris/Linux Shell Scripting skills
Good PL/SQL programming skills
Proficient in SQL Performance tuning
Excellent English, German is a plus
Good communicator and listener, or willingness to expand these skills
Strong service focus
Driven, robust, self-motivated, delivery focused and able to withstand 24/7 pressure
Desired:
Experience with any of the following Technologies:
Oracle Super Cluster, Oracle Exadata, Oracle ZFS Appliance, Oracle Storage Cells
