We are looking for qualified software development professional to be part of our IBM z/OS team, to help us take z/OS Web development to the next level. Candidates will work closely with teammates to provide a world-class infrastructure on z/OS platform with the reliability, availability, serviceability, and security, that exceeds our clients’ expectations. The z/OS Web development team operates as a self-directed Agile squad with all team members working collaboratively throughout our development and test processes.

Your role and responsibilities
Join an innovative team to design and develop software for the IBM Z Operating System Development organization. You will work in an agile, collaborative, and cross-discipline environment employing IBM’s Design Thinking.
As a member of the team, you will work on the development of new and/or existing tools used during the software release process.

Your main project will be an internal platform public for everyone in IBM used to manage requests for different product maintenances and installations on the z/OS platform. The tool is currently being completely redesigned and rewritten in a modern and scalable way for our ease of work, automation and security.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and develop a internal platform for z/OS products and maintenance management
• Designing, coding and testing of new development projects and defect fixes following z/OS processes and procedures
• Ensuring new development and defect fixes are implemented/resolved within established time frames based on their priorities
• Participating in a team wide test environments regular product refresh/update

• Interfacing with other teams and organizations
• Understanding our internal software development infrastructure and best practices
• Practicing Agile development principles

Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
• Development experience with HTML, CSS, React, or similar frontend frameworks

• Experience with web development, RESTful APIs, and web services integration

• Understanding of CI/CD and agile development practices

• Understanding of accessibility and responsive design standards.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Fluency in English

Preferred technical and professional experience
• Knowledge of backend development with Java, Spring Boot, and SQL or willingness to learn

• Web interface design and performance optimization experience

• Experience collaborating with global teams across multiple time zones

• Automation scripting experience with Python and/or Ansible

• Basic Gen AI awareness: worked on a "wrapper" or on automating prompts to a Gen AI models, or hosted an LLMs locally, or developed a basic AI agent using any Agentic framework, or implemented an MCP server
