Position Purpose & Summary:

Trade and Structured Finance (TSF) compliments the efforts of Cargill commodity business units by providing financial solutions to Cargill’s business partners (suppliers and buyers). TSF’s experience and expertise in global financial markets aid in mitigating documentary, cross-border and credit risks associated with structured trade finance. TSF plays a key role in funding the global operations of Cargill through cross-border funding structures and management of transferability and convertibility risks. In addition to structured trade finance and internal funding, TSF also leverages Cargill’s international trade flows to create trade structures that provide funding to emerging market-based financial institutions and corporations.

The candidate will be responsible for overseeing a defined scope of trade execution and settlement activities in the Transaction Management team. Scope will be defined individually, shall be modified from time to time as needed at TM Manager’s discretion and may be based on country/regional or structure/product specific criteria.
Role is responsible for providing guidance, training, development and performance reviews for the relevant TM, monitoring and managing all execution aspects of the defined scope of trade finance transactions to make sure quality service is provided to relevant TSF customers via resolving issues and timely and accurate settlement while maintaining high levels of internal controls and ensuring regulatory and internal compliance.

Principal Accountabilities:

Manage members of TM team within area of responsibility, including hiring, cross- training, development, performance review.
Work closely with TM Manager to ensure proper understanding of all processes and activities, ensure TM Team members get proper attention, development and evaluation. Seek guidance as needed, report back on any issues, SOG breakdowns and inefficiencies, offer solutions and introduce improvements.
Ensure respective TM within area of responsibility develop thorough understanding of TSF/Cargill guidelines, procedures and TSF structures, including key risks and controls associated with each structure. Ensure complete understanding of transaction specifics, including data integrity, documentation, and settlement processes as well as the attributes of the relevant market, geography and customer requirements.

Supervise activities performed by respective TM within area of responsibility:
Second review and verification of trades (system input, documentation, approvals) & cash payments (amounts, value dates, bank details)
Monitor the status of transactions. Ensure procedures and processes for regulatory compliance and for effective monitoring and control throughout the entire life cycle of transactions are in place. Make appropriate adjustments to control processes as required. Ensure all regulatory requirements, policies and procedures are adhered to.
Ensure data integrity of information in the trade inventory system and in the reports prepared by the team; proper approvals, limits are in place; transaction files are complete and accurate.
For trades within area of responsibility, perform second review on majority of files, as well as corresponding verification of trades (system input, limits, approvals), documentation (trade details and use of approved template/variation), cash payments (amounts, dates, bank details) prepared by direct reports;
Utilize technical knowledge and operations experience to provide proactive and timely advise and direction to respective TM in resolving issues to support business activities.
Recognize execution deviations, make initial assessments on materiality & impacts of the execution deviations, assist respective TM to request approval of execution deviations from respective authorities.
Settle more difficult and non-standard transactions independently or work closely with responsible TM to ensure quality settlement, capture issues and share learnings with wider audience.
Negotiate transactional documentation with counter-parties (English), draft the changes to the documentation as required.
Manage communication and alignment with other functions within TSF, including Trading team, Risk, Accounting.
Manage relationships with Cargill BUs and external customers, supporting Trading team to deliver customer solutions.

Drive business approach and high performance,
Coordination and collaboration with TSF global team for sharing lessons learned and best practices.
Champion and/or participate in cross-region working groups and projects as required. Support global initiatives, champion change management.
Any other duties assigned by TM Manager.
Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications
University degree or relevant equivalent MOCC (Massive On-line Courses Certification)
7+ years of working experience
Understanding of trade finance business
Working knowledge of financial instruments, in particular foreign exchange & money market products
Strong people/teamwork skills
Able to work independently with minimal supervision, strong self-initiative, ability to work in ambiguity
Demonstrated knowledge of internal control structure & compliance
Good organization skills with ability to manage multiple and changing priorities and work well under time pressure
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours to support global operations
Integrity, strong attention to detail, and thoroughness and accuracy in work
Ability to adapt positively to an ever-changing environment
Good Microsoft Word, Excel skills
Fluent in oral and written English
Preferred Qualifications
Prior managerial experience
Experience with Banking/ Finance organization
Exposure to forwarding operations of Commodity Trading company
Exposure to commodity finance and documentations
Familiar with ICC publications and use of various types of instruments including LCs, Bills of Exchange, SBLCs, BGs, etc.
