Position Purpose & Summary:

Technical Superintendant / Safety Officer is a role based in a selected operational location, accountable for technical supervision of the own and chartered fleet with focus on compliance with Cargill Code of Conduct and Safety.

This role is responsible for overseeing the technical condition of the fleet, according to the industry standarts and regulations . It has the purpose of support Vessel Ops, commercial and legal teams analyzing the hazardous and unsafe practices and situations on board.
The role will focus on making risk assessment for the safe operations of Cargill chartered fleet according to legal standards, with attention to safety of the crew, vessel, environment and cargo in all their aspects.
It involves close coordination internally with Vessel Operators, Masters & Technical desk and externall with Owners: Technical and Commercial Managers, and Charterers. It requires good understanding of Safety procedures on board, Legal framework and documentary requirements.

The tasks include and not limited to inform the organization on the latest changes in the ISM and ILO area and what this means for the business, keep track of incidents, assess the corrective actions plan, collaborating closely with parties involved up and down the commercial chain, share / communicate Cargill Code of Conduct, Create analytical reports of safety and sustainability data, raising safety awareness internally and externally, key crew members briefings and guidlenes, compiling safety related instructions.
Aligning on Cargill internal processes and procedures in respect to safety.

The person in this role has to be informed and competent in the latest ISM, ILO and other related international regulations.

Principal Accountabilities:

30% Asses and request safety compliance of Cargill chartered fleet

Identify risks on Health, Ship, Environment and Cargo safety
Determine adherence to Legal regulations, Safety procedures , Cargill Safety policies, Dox compliance
Collaborate with owners, masters, operations and establish safe practices
Rightship and other available resourses
Build knowledge on Customer’s Safety requirements and facilitate implementation

30% Raise Safety awareness

Master . Chief Officer briefings on safety , aligned with Cargill safety outlook
Produce relevant safety instructions and guidelines
Education on safety matters , regulation changes, Cargill safety policy
Discussions with Owners
Regular sessions with VOs and traders on the topic

30% Action plans and corrective measures

Align with counterparties on corrective measures and action plans
Advise on changes in regulations, convetions,specific local requirements and align
Alignment on Cargill internal procedures and proceses
Coordination with Owners/Masters

10% Reporting

Maintan Incidents tracker
Identify High risk owners
Produce Safety reports to management
Produce Sustainabillity reports

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

University degree
Shipping education
Fluent English spoken/written
Min 5 years shipping experience : sailing experience and job ashore with Owners or ship operators in Safety department
Shipping industry knowledge : proficiency in safety, processes ,liabilities , compliances
Strong communication skills
Team player
Customer service mindset
