This is a complex and senior role providing purchasing support to stakeholders in the respective market. Working as part of a squad, the Procurement buyer will be involved in negotiating and contracting with selected vendors, consulting our clients and providing guidance on complex and sensitive commercial deals. In addition the Procurement professional can acquire and extend category knowledge and take responsibilities in the chapters. More specific details of the tasks are provided below.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Procurement Buyer has the responsibility for achieving best overall value for IBM when acquiring or contracting for goods, services and intellectual property assets. As such Procurement buyer’s principal responsibilities are to:

Support engagement projects to drive new revenue for IBM;

Ensure an effective procurement process is defined and operated;

Advise and guide business on third party supplier commercial relationships;

Negotiate contract terms with supplier and liaise with legal staff where appropriate;

Select suppliers and conduct a fair value determination. Work with the supplier on boarding team to on board new suppliers as and when appropriate;

Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, to understand and interpret their requirements and longer term strategies to ensure procurement can meet and exceed where possible these requirements;

Maintain effective audit trails for all sourcing activities;

Create appropriate contract documentation, including flow down terms, mirroring of terms from customer contract to a vendor contract. Highlighting of risks to the organization in contract terms presented by suppliers.

Establish effective process indicators that demonstrate performance against these measurements.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Experienced buyer with previous procurement experience;

Bachelor’s degree in economics or related field;

Fluent English and French language;

Good understanding and appreciation of contracts;

Sound commercial judgement and strong negotiation skills;

Excellent communicator and effective team player;

Self-motivated, determined and resilient;

Able to work on own initiative and manage an individual workload.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Master’s Degree in Business/Management.
