Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Author to scope, develop, and publish end-user documentation for a range of financial services products. This person will liaise with developers, test engineers, product owners, product managers, project managers and support staff to produce technical documents, release notes, online help etc. The Senior Technical Author is responsible for the quality, standards, and maintenance of the technical guides as well supporting Junior members of the team to adhere to these standards.

This role is well suited to someone with strong collaboration skills who enjoys working in a team to achieve common goals. It’s well suited to someone who thrives working in a dynamic, fast moving, and challenging environment, where they can pick up skills and learn on the job and through others. The need to work with Agile methodologies is crucial.

What you'll be doing:

· Proactively contributes ideas for technical documentation content (incl. concepts, layout and diagrams, etc.)
· Proficient in the use of MadCap Flare and other industry standard authoring tools (Jekyll, Jenkins, BitBucket etc.)
· Attend and contribute to discussions and backlog refinement (scope, acceptance criteria and architecture definition)
· Translates functional and non-functional requirements into technical requirements
· Significant, demonstrable experience in technical writing
· Implement correct, accurate and reflective technical product information following the development standards and processes used by the team and wider organization, meeting the acceptance criteria of each story and task
· Participate actively in all Agile meetings – planning, stand-up, retrospective, backlog refinement, review etc.
· Using the right tools ensure that deployment of documentation is completed on time and to the right standard across the appropriate knowledge portal
· Support and coach junior team member

Qualifications

What you are expected to bring:

· 5 years of relevant experience - as a strong technical author, content creator or marketing specialist
· Works under routine direction and can operate autonomously within that
· Excellent written and verbal skills (in English), analytical and problem-solving skills
· Strong understanding of technical documentation production process and methodologies that drive scalable development and documentation maintenance
· Has gained a wide range of authoring knowledge
· Works effectively in a team and supports junior colleagues
· Has good communication skills for effective dialogue with wider Engineering, Development, and Product team

The following will be considered as an advantage:

· Experience of using JIRA and Confluence
