The IBM Procurement Organization supporting United Kingdom is looking for Procurement Buyers for the UKI Market.

IBM Procurement is responsible for managing billions of dollars of spend with IBM 3rd party suppliers around the globe. The UKI market is key in driving IBM revenue and thus by default have significant volumes of spend that is actively managed on a day to day basis. Procurement Buyer is a varied and busy role, providing purchasing support to stakeholders in the respective market. The Buyer would be joining the UKI tribe who is a team of dedicated procurement professionals strong based around Europe who support the UKI market and form part of a wider IBM Global Procurement Organization.
Working as part of a squad, the Procurement Buyer will be involved in negotiating and contracting with selected vendors, providing advice and guidance on sometimes complex and sensitive commercial issues, as well as duly documenting all deals into the relevant tools.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Procurement Buyer has the responsibility for achieving best overall value for IBM when acquiring or contracting for goods, services and intellectual property assets. As such Procurement Buyer’s principal responsibilities are to:
• Ensure an effective procurement process is defined and operated;
• Advise and guide business on third party supplier commercial relationships;
• Develop and manage RFxes (Tenders/Requests for Purchase), including facilitating RFx response analysis and RFx assessment with stakeholder;
• Negotiate contract terms with supplier and liaise with legal staff where appropriate;
• Select suppliers and conduct a fair value determination;
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;
• Maintain effective audit trails for all sourcing activities;
• Create appropriate contract documentation, including flow down terms, mirroring of terms from customer contract to a vendor contract;
• Establish effective process indicators that demonstrate performance against these measurements;
• Track and monitor savings.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Experienced buyer with previous procurement experience;
• Bachelor’s degree in economics or related field;
• Fluent English;
• Good understanding and appreciation of contracts;
• Sound commercial judgement and strong negotiation skills;
• Excellent communicator and effective team player;
• Self-motivated, determined and resilient;
• Able to work on own initiative and manage an individual workload.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Master’s Degree in Business/Management.
