Course Overview
The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) aims to produce graduates who will
communicate effectively and perceptively within a business environment, produce
innovative solutions to problems, and apply investigative skills to a range of
complex challenges faced in a business context. Furthermore, graduates will
develop a thorough understanding of the core principles of business and
accounting, giving them the skills required to perform in a variety of
accounting based roles in the corporate sector.
The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) incorporates the Core Body of
Knowledge in Business that is recommended by Institute of Public Accountants
(IPA), Australian Institute of Management (AIM), Australian Marketing Institute
(AMI) and the Australian Market and Social Reserarch Society (AMSRS).
Undertaking the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) at Our College will give students a strong
foundation in accounting principles and essential business skills. Graduates of
the program will be well prepared to enter the accounting and/or business world
in a pre-management and management capacity.
Key Features
Core body of knowledge
The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) incorporates the Core Body of
Knowledge in Business that is recommended by Institute of Public Accountants
(IPA), Australian Institute of Management (AIM), Australian Marketing Institute
(AMI) and the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS).
Lifelong learning
Students gain key skills in research, using both online and library
materials. They also gain key skills and significant experience in
collaborative learning, and gain theoretical knowledge in the underpinnings of
business. All of these factors will help graduates of the Bachelor of Business
(Accounting) to be lifelong learners.
Professional & Community Engagement
Important business people and professional accounting organisation guest
speakers will be invited to speak at various lectures. Guest speakers will add
value in the practical aspect of the course work which is particularly
important. These speakers will also assist students understand future
management responsibilities.
Industry relevant material
The practical laboratory components of the course incorporate material that
is specifically relevant for the accounting industry. In the laboratories,
students gain experience with MYOB and other accounting and statistical
packages; they also gain experience with other computer packages such as MS
Excel.
The course emphasises an innovative and independent minded approach to
Business education as the key to competitiveness in the dynamic global
accounting profession. It is intended that the course would consist of a
combination of both domestic and international students. In this way students
will gain benefits from the broad range of circumstances and life experiences
of their fellow students.
Course Structure
The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) is a 3 year course, delivered over 6
semesters full time. There are three intakes per year, one in February/March,
July/August and November.
