On behalf of our client, international company providing cryptocurrency based financial services, we are looking for an experienced and responsible professional for the position of General Legal Counsel.
Main Responsibilities:
• Draft, negotiate, and manage a diverse portfolio of commercial agreements for a growing organization, including partnership agreements, software licensing, vendor contracts, NDAs, as well as other complex bespoke transactional setups;
• Support the related teams in conducting due diligence and in drafting, negotiating, and executing integration deals with a variety of international partners, including money transfer operators and digital asset issuers;
• Advise on issues relating to regulatory compliance, privacy, information security, money transmission, cross-border payments, securities law, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain;
• Manage important aspects of the company compliance program, including by creating and presenting trainings for company staff on internal policies;
• Create operational processes and templates to empower the business to move quickly, while mitigating risks and maintaining a commitment to compliance;
• Support maintenance of company trademark portfolio and other IP matters;
• Manage outside counsel and work directly with company executives on strategic projects;
• Manage the companies relations with regulators – FCA, ICO, EU regulators.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• A law degree (bar registration is an advantage);
• 5+ years of experience working for an international law firm or in-house;
• Experience within the technology. fintech and cryptoassets industry would be highly desirable;
• Understanding of UK and EU law – AMLD5, PSD2, GDPR;
• Fluency in English;
• Ability to think creatively and provide business-friendly and solution-oriented advice;
• Adaptivity and excitement to work in a fast-paced startup environment;
• Strong understanding of legal issues and risks pertinent to commercial negotiations and management of the whole process of contracting with counterparties and customers.
