ICU Resident Medical Officer Job description: - To be part of a team providing 24 hour medical cover and immediate first line airway management and resuscitation to any patient, visitor or staff member as required. - To assist in the management of patients and provide back-up support to the consultant. - To manage and to take care of the airway of the critically ill patient. - To manage the critically ill patient pre and post operatively. - To manage and insert arterial lines and central lines if requested. - To assist consultants and nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit, Theatre recovery area, ward or other areas in the hospital as needed. - The RMO will encompass the assessment, resuscitation and ongoing management of critically ill patients with life-threatening single and multiple organ system failure. Essential for the candidates: - Minumum of 4 years post graduation experience. - Minimum of 6 months experience in Anaesthesia or Intensive care. - Must hold a valid ALS/ACLS and EPLS/PALS course card. - Must be well organized and have the ability to plan ahead and deal with issues as they arise. - Must demonstrate the ability to proactively identify potential problems and act to avoid them or to ensure a positive outcome. - Must be conscientious and check own work thoroughly for errors/omissions. - Must be flexible and able to adapt their approach to fit with changing conditions, tasks, responsibilities or people. - Must have excellent command of both written and spoken English. Screening test online. We will be able to assist you with this arrangement - Must be able to cooperate and work closely with other members of staff. Desirable: Respiratory medicine and emergency medicine rotations are of value but not essential. Documents and registrations For doctors wishing to work as an RMO in the United Kingdom, the following documents are a mandatory part of the recruitment process: • Full CV. The more detail that can be provided on this the easier it is for us to provide you with a suitable work placement. • Two clinical references. These should be recent (6 months)and verifiable references, ideally from consultant level colleagues. • Graduation Certificate. • Evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B • Rubella, Varicella, Measles and Mumps. • HIV report, Hep C report, • Hep B Antigen report • Proof of BCG • Chest X-Ray report • A Police Clearance report from your country of origin • A copy of your right to work in the UK (if you do not have an EU passport or VISA we will obtain & pay for a work permit for you) • Completed Health Questionnaire and Personal Information • 4 Passport photos Positions are currently available for the following rotations: 1:1/2:2 (One week on, one week off/ Two weeks on, two weeks off) RMOs work one full week of 168 hours, with changeovers scheduled for Monday 12.00 hours.
